Morning Fog, Warm Tea, and an Unexpected Question
The early morning fog rolled across the hill-station tea
shop like a soft blanket, wrapping everything in gentle grey. The wooden bench
felt slightly cold as Ananya warmed her palms around a steel tumbler of
steaming filter coffee. The sky slowly turned pink, the chill breeze carrying
the faint smell of eucalyptus. She watched the slow sunrise and sighed,
wondering why the market chart felt so similar to her life—full of sudden
turns, jumps, and drops that made no sense.
Just then, her younger cousin Varun walked over, brushing
dew off the bench. “Akka, you’re awake before the sun again?” he teased,
adjusting his backpack. She smiled softly. “Couldn’t sleep. The market confused
me yesterday.” Varun sat beside her, stirring his tea with a spoon that clinked
rhythmically. “Tell me what happened?” he asked, flicking a dried leaf from his
slipper. And just like that, their warm morning began with a hint of curiosity.
A Friendly Chat About Tricks the Market Loves to Play
Varun took a slow sip and leaned forward. “Let me guess…
price hit your stop-loss and then went your direction?” Ananya nodded
immediately. “Exactly! It feels like the market is targeting me,” she said,
laughing helplessly. Varun chuckled. “Welcome to the world of liquidity grabs.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Sounds scary. What is that?”
He placed his tea on the table and used his finger to draw
a line on the fogged-up glass window. “See, akka… sometimes the market
purposely pokes above or below a level to hunt stop losses. Like someone
pretending to go one way just to fool the crowd.” Ananya smiled at the example.
“Like how you used to fake passing the cricket ball to distract me?” He laughed
loudly. “Exactly! That’s a stop hunt.”
She adjusted her shawl as a cool breeze brushed past them.
“But why does the market do that?” Varun shrugged. “Simple. Before a big move,
it needs energy—liquidity. All the stop-loss orders sitting around are perfect
fuel.” She watched the steam rise from her coffee. “So… the market tricks us
just to collect these orders?” Varun nodded. “Yep. Once it eats those stops, it
moves the real way.” She took a deep breath, absorbing the simplicity. “Hmm…
makes sense. I thought I was doing something wrong.” Varun gently nudged her
shoulder. “No akka, the market just loves drama more than we do.”
A Quiet Lesson the Sunrise Helped Her Understand
As the fog began to lift, the sunlight painted golden
streaks across the tea shop. Ananya stared at the hills glowing softly. “So the
market fakes a move before showing its truth,” she murmured. Varun nodded while
finishing his tea. “Yes, and the trick is simple—don’t chase the first move.
Wait. Observe. Let the stop hunt happen. Then enter with calm.”
Ananya smiled, feeling something inside her settle. “Feels
like life also works the same,” she said gently. “Sometimes things shake us,
confuse us, and then suddenly everything makes sense.” Varun grinned. “Exactly.
The real move always comes after the fake one.”
